Knowing what you have in your kitchen is vital to your success in eliminating The Dirty 30 from you daily intake. Just like any retail business, to stay in business they must keep track of their inventory. Well, in order for you to be successful, you have to keep track of your food inventory and of course, I made it simple for you!
Print out The Dirty 30 Inventory Sheet and let’s get to work!
Remember, make this a Weekend Family Project and make if FUN! It shouldn’t seem like a chore. Make it an opportunity to talk about memories and fun times as well as what will happen in the future with better eating. This project should become a great memory to you and your family.
Step 1: Gather the family together
Step 2: Go through ALL the items in your kitchen, section by section, and write out what you have on the Dirty 30 Inventory Sheet. If the item is ALMOST EMPTY, mark it or highlight it on this sheet. You will come back to this in a later exercise.
Step 3: As you review each item, make sure you’re reading the label and highlight each item on the Dirty 30 Inventory Sheet, that has High Fructose Corn Syrup and other added sugars. (Do this step out loud with your family – let everyone have an opportunity. Pulling them in will get them accustomed to reading labels to spot the “bad” stuff in the “food” they buy when they are not with you)
Be sure to share your results, in the FB Group, using #DirtyInventory and your outcomes, feelings, concerns and thoughts.
PS. Where I never suggest to clients to throw food away, sometimes the anger makes you want to toss items right in the trash. Err on the side of caution and make sure that it is financially responsible for you to toss partially used items to replace with healthier options.
PSS. Be sure to celebrate this success with your family. It is important to celebrate as you travel this journey to ensure that what you have learned stays with you and your family. Be sure to let your family know exactly what you are celebrating and why! Talk about it and express how completing these tasks make you feel.
