Resolution vs. Constitution

New Year's ResolutionsIt’s that time of year again. You know, when people start to make resolutions for the upcoming year. Are you making yours? The same promises you made last year and the year before that were never kept. You start out great, on fire and filled with passion but by March its back to the same old thing, the same routine and nothing changes, gets better or gets accomplished.

Why did you fail to meet your resolutions? Mainly, because you set unrealistic goals and expectations. The actions needed to keep them are far too drastic and out of alignment with your internal view of yourself.

For example, you set a resolution to lose weight but you didn’t do it in the previous year, you failed at the diets you tried, you didn’t go to the gym and now you don’t believe that you can accomplish it so you never do.

External factors say you need to change but your internal factors make you believe you will fail, don’t deserve it or that you don’t have what it takes to accomplish it.

What internal factors have kept you from accomplishing the resolutions you set last year?

In order to be successful, you have to re-wire your internal views of yourself. You must create different thinking patterns as it relates to YOU. Creating neural pathways and memories, which become your default view of yourself will assist in accomplishing those things for which you desire.

How do you do this? Instead of making a New Year’s Resolution, create your New Years’ Constitution!

Your Constitution is who you are and what you represent (or who you want to be and what you want to represent)!

My New Year’s Constitution from 2013 – I am Crystal Gunn, someone that inspires all in which I come in contact. I was created to unite and empower women globally. I will continue to represent Power, Inspiration and Determination! I am Amazing!

As you continue to speak out loud your Constitution, everyday, over and over, it starts to shift your mindset. The neural pathways and memories start to multiply. You start to become what you continue to speak.

As you do this and really start to believe in you, in your power, in your worth, you will automatically start to accomplish the very tasks you need to complete to meet your desired outcome.

Change your thoughts and beliefs about who you are and that is who you become.

Please share with me your 2014 New Year’s Constitution. We are doing a feature on this in the January 2014 edition of Amazing Women Speak Magazine and would love to include your Constitution!

Have a wonderful day!

Let Go or Be Dragged!

let go and let godInfidelity, lies, anger, betrayal, arguments and harsh words that can never be taken back! Which of these are you holding on to for dear life? Which of these pop into your mind over and over again?  How many times have you gotten mad or sad all over again because you are thinking about something that happened in the past?

Well it is time to let go or be dragged.

When we hold on to the bad things that have happened into our past, we are dragged into darkness. In darkness is where anger and pain reside, depression festers and the disharmony in our life is manifested as illness and disease in our bodies.

A close friend once told me “Crystal, your story is not special!” At the time, it was, to me, the meanest thing anyone had every said to me. But as time progressed and I emerged from darkness, I realized the power in those words.

Everyone has a story, some not as bad as yours, some, thousands of times worse than yours but everyone has one. That story, that betrayal, those arguments, that failure, those horrible words, that bad incident is not who you are. You are not defined by any of that. Let go and experience the freedom that is awaiting you. Forgive and start to live a whole new life.

There is no one process that works for everyone but here are a few things to consider:

  1. Start out by saying the words “I forgive you!”  Your words have power. Use them!
  2. Write about it in your journal – don’t hold back, let it all flow, get it all out. Continue to write until the pain that once was present is no longer there.
  3. Talk to a professional – someone that can assist you in your healing. The bigger the issue, the harder it may be to resolve alone. Don’t be afraid to ask for professional help! It may be the thing you need to get you out of darkness.
  4. Pray – Ask God to show you how to get past it and leave it in the past!
  5. Learn from it! – There is a lesson in every situation. Find it and learn from it.
  6. Forgive yourself – forgiving yourself is equally important as forgiving another. Stop carrying the burden.
  7. Live life – be determined to live each moment like it is the last one you have. The next moment is not promised.
  8. Spread love – the more you give, the more you shall receive. Spread love in a big way and it will be returned to you pressed down, shaken together and running over.
  9. Be happy! – you control your own happiness so decide to be happy. Every night, write out 3-5 things that you experienced in that day for which you are grateful. When you focus on what you have, you can’t help but become happy.

10. Let Go! – let go of the past, let go of the hurt and pain. Become free!

leaderIf you are a woman and you think you are not a leader, think again.  Maybe not like Michelle Obama, Hilary Clinton or Anna Tibaijuka but an incredible leader just the same.

The creator gave you an incredible gift of grace and dignity and you navigate thru life having an unforgettable impact on the people around you.  They rely on you for all that you are and all that you give.

Your children rely on you for your strength, courage and disciple.  Your mate relies on you for your encouragement, assistance and support.  Your family and friends rely on you for your compassion, intelligence and love.

You show up to game of life everyday, regardless if you are up for the game or not. You give your children, friends, family and coworkers your all sometimes leaving nothing for yourself. You do it unselfishly, asking for nothing in return.

We are quickly approaching the end of another year. It is important to complete some tasks in order to be ready for the New Year. This list represents 12 things that should be done by the end of the year to get your Business New Year off to a running start.

1. Update your Bio, Resume and Media Kit – Go through and update these items with fresh information. Have someone else look it over for a second opinion. Be sure to add achievements from the past year: awards, recommendations, new major clients, milestones, etc. Make sure you have electronic copies of these items available at all times. Invest in a great publicist.

2. Photo Shoot – It’s time to show the updated you! Chances are you have changed a bite in the past year or even if you haven’t, now is a great time to get new photo’s done. Be sure to have them done professionally and have more than one look.  (The standard corporate look and something more business casual). Ladies, be sure to have your make up professionally done.

3. Revisions and New Editions – Now is a good time to make revisions to the book and bring out a new edition. Update new items that did not sale well in the past year and repackage with a different look to generate sales.

4. Update Pricing – check out the pricing for your products. Research your sales for the year. Are there some items you should decrease in price? Should you increase your price on the new items or new editions?  Be sure to research what your competition is doing and set prices accordingly.

Never under price – especially when you are providing a service. Price moderate to high because you can always give someone a discount but you can never ask for more after they know your price.

5. Update Website, Social Media and Print Media – Change out pictures, information and flash presentations. Spruce up your site with videos. Also make sure all of your social media is in sync and relaying the same message. Include a lead capture form on your site to help build your list. If you already have one, update the free give-a-way with something new.

This is also a good time to overhaul your stationary and business cards if necessary.

6. Budget – review your current year budget and finalize the budget for next year. Be sure to have an appropriate amount of funds set aside for marketing.

7. Contact/Customer Update – Be sure to make a backup copy of each.  Also, start to think about a plan of attack to double your customer list over the next year. Invest in an automatic contact system to better stay in touch with your clients/customers.

8. Email Update – Get rid of accounts that have continuously bounced back. Send out an email requesting updated information: new business, new contact information, new positions or new jobs.  Include any of your updates in the outgoing email.   Be sure to unsubscribe to anything that you are not reading. Create folders to store emails that you want to keep.

Also, be sure to update your signature line in your email account. You want to make sure that you have your name, title, contact numbers, email address and website. Be sure to include linked in, face book, twitter and blog accounts listed as links for easy access.

9. Clean Out and Backup – Go through your computer files and delete unwanted documents, consolidate folders, clear the desktop of clutter. Try to do a backup monthly to ensure that you don’t lose vital information.

10. Shred It – Scan this year’s invoices, statements, receipts, contracts etc and shred the original. For those must have originals, scan and store in one place and be sure that key people are aware of the location.  Try to do this on a monthly basis. This will save space.

11. It’s Tax Time– Gather all the information you will need to send to the accountant after the New Year. W2 and 1099 information must be mailed by January 31st so make sure you have all social security numbers and EIN’s for those individuals that received over $600 for the year.  There will be a few documents that you need to add after the New Year, but everything else will be together and the transition will be simple.

12. Create and Organize – Create new file folders and update and organize your filing system. Go into the New Year well organized and maintain the organization throughout the year.

As Always… Make it Amazing!

“Say to those with fearful hearts. Be strong, do not fear, your God will come with vengeance; with divine retribution He will come to save you.” ~Isaiah 35:4

Why do you still fear?  God is just waiting on you to make your move. As soon as you do, He will make His.

As you close out this year, get ready to make your move in 2012 and have NO FEAR! Get ready to Make it Amazing!
