It’s January 1, 2016 and undoubtedly people have made their lists of New Year Resolutions. Somewhere on that list there is a commitment to something or someone. A commitment to lose weight, a commitment to better health, a commitment to repair your marriage, a commitment to repair your finances, earn more money, start a business, quit a job… The list goes on and on and a resolution list is incomplete with out commitment right?
I looked up the word commitment and there were two definitions listed.
- the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.
synonyms: dedication, devotion, allegiance, loyalty, faithfulness, fidelity
2. an engagement or obligation that restricts freedom of action
synonyms: responsibility, tie, liability, task
More often than not, we follow and require the second definition of commitment resulting in failure and resentment. We see it as a form of attack and when we are attacked, what do we do? We anger! We resist! We attack! We harm! We fail!
As you go about your 2016 be careful to choose the definition that serves you in creating a peaceful life. When definition 1 is freely and willingly given there is no need for definition 2.
Commit to your resolutions with love. That is where magic is and where miracles happen!
Make it Amazing!
